You may have noticed the work and closure of the southbound lane downtown Monday morning. The closure is needed to complete the adjustment of the watergate valves (where the water department can turn the water on or off for a water line if needed). We were a little caught off-guard by the timing of the work, so apologies for the lack of notice on our end. We are working with WisDOT and the contractor to modify the cones so that the parking on the north side is opened up again as soon as the work is completed. The southbound lane will be detoured to 1st Street for 3-4 days to allow the concrete to set.
Here's what the rest of the project looks like in the near future:
We have gotten some questions regarding the annual Halloween festivities on 3rd Street this year. At this time, we anticipate that 2nd Street between Vine Street and St Croix Street will be reopened in time for the Halloween celebration on 3rd Street. If for some reason there are delays on getting 2nd Street reopened, traffic will be rerouted to 1st or 4th Streets for the night of that event.
