As you probably have noticed, the closure of access between Hudson and North Hudson is in effect. Crews are working to complete the utility work at the Division Street, North Street, and South Street intersections as quickly as they can. Unfortunately, the rains of the past few days and the upcoming few days are not helpful for the work efforts in that area. We will keep an eye on the weather and work between the raindrops to make sure we can get the work done as soon as possible.
Here’s what the rest of the schedule looks like for the next few weeks:
This week:
Front Street to Coulee Road:
- Milling remaining concrete pavement between Lolo’s driveway and Coulee Road Wed-Fri this week
Coulee Road to Vine Street:
- Milling remaining concrete pavement in the northbound lanes Wed-Fri this week. Northbound traffic will use the southbound lane, and southbound traffic will continue to be detoured to 1st Street.
- Adjusting/reconstructing top sections of manholes in the downtown area.
Vine Street to Lake Mallalieu:
- Road closed between Division Street and South Street until Friday, September 3rd (opening could be delayed with inclement weather). North Street neighborhood access via North Hudson during this week.
- Pouring intersections and parking lanes between Vine Street and River Street
- Restoration work between Myrtle Street and Division Street
North Hudson:
- No work is anticipated while crews are busy with closure area work.
Next week:
Front Street to Coulee Road:
- Asphalt pavement Monday-Wednesday between Lolo’s driveway and Coulee Road
Coulee Road to Vine Street:
- Asphalt pavement Monday-Wednesday on northbound lane & parking lane
- Pavement markings anticipated late in the week
- Finish manhole adjustments
- Reopening of southbound lane anticipated late in the week after pavement markings are in
Vine Street to Lake Mallalieu:
- Road closed between Division Street and South Street until Friday, September 3rd (opening could be delayed with inclement weather). North Street neighborhood access via Division Street intersection during this week.\
- Finish remaining restoration activities between Vine Street and Division Street
- The road between Vine Street and Division Street is anticipated to reopen at the same time as access to North Hudson is restored.
North Hudson:
- No work is anticipated while crews are busy with closure area work.
The schedule is dependent on weather and unforeseen site conditions, which is particularly applicable at this time as the weather has changed to a rainier pattern and the crews have encountered some utility conflicts in the Division Street intersection that weren’t anticipated.
Work in North Hudson is scheduled to resume after Labor Day.
Work in the Coulee Road intersection is not anticipated until mid to late September. Because of the poor pavement quality in the intersection, WisDOT is attempting to figure out whether to repair the joints or completely reconstruct the intersection pavement. More information will be coming soon once a decision has been made in this regard.
