[ARCHIVED] Wood Chip Give Away

The City’s free wood chip give away will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 15th, at 285 Krattley Lane in North Hudson.

If you’re doing landscaping around your house this summer and would like to save some money doing it, stop by the City dump Saturday, June 15th to get some free wood chips! The wood chips come from the removal of City owned trees and may contain various species of tree. Keep in mind, the chips are not premium quality like you would purchase from a store or landscape business.

Staff will be on hand to help load the mulch into pickups and trailers using a front-end loader. Residents must cover their loads before leaving, so make sure to bring tarps. This offer does not extend to commercial businesses.

How much mulch do you need?
A good depth for wood chips is 3 inches. If you are covering a 100-square-foot area, you will need one cubic yard. How much is 100 square feet? A standard 10-foot-by-10-foot concrete patio is one way to picture it. Ask staff at the on-site how many cubic yards the loader bucket holds so you have an idea how much to get.
