Vine Street Closure

Road Closed Sign

The City of Hudson would like to inform you of the beginning of construction on the Vine Street Reconstruction Project from east of Diamond Drive to Carmichael Road. The project involves reconstruction of the roadway, connections to the water and sanitary sewer systems, addition of storm sewer, addition of curb & gutter, addition of a shared-use path on the north side of Vine Street, and addition of turn lanes and traffic calming islands at the new entrance to the Bella Rose development.

You may have already noticed that Vine Street is closed from Diamond Drive to Carmichael Road and work has been progressing on the project. That is because the crews are required to complete water and sanitary sewer connections in Vine Street before August 1 st due to an unrelated City project. Since the contractor is already on-site doing the utility work, they have decided to remain on-site to complete the street construction work as well. Initially, the contractor’s schedule showed that the road would be temporarily reopened after the water and sanitary sewer connections were made for a week or two until being closed again for the reconstruction work. The City had not anticipated this schedule change, but the expedited schedule will allow Vine Street to be closed for less time overall, and the construction activities will be done in advance of school starting around Labor Day.

The Vine Street closure is anticipated to last approximately 4 weeks. Unforeseen weather or site conditions may cause the project completion to be delayed.

Vine Street traffic is currently utilizing a signed detour using Grandview Drive/17th Street, Coulee Road, and Carmichael Road. Detoured traffic is encouraged to follow all local laws, including following speed limits and yielding to pedestrians at crosswalks. Extra traffic enforcement may be utilized along the detour route if needed.
